When we arrived in Brno towards the end of autumn, I felt the excitement of being in a new city again. The city's magnificent bar scene offers an atmosphere where everyone enjoys a cold beer or wine outside during the summer months. Since Brno is located in the heart of Moravia, its wines are quite affordable and delicious. The food culture here is also great; we experienced everything from amazing Pho (there is a large Vietnamese community here) to delicious Greek dishes. If you want to discover the best places for food and drinks in Brno, I recommend reserving Ivo's fantastic Brno Bar Tour through Holiday Moments. Ivo has a friendly relationship with all the bartenders and owners, allowing you to have a truly close experience with the locals of Brno. In this section, I have listed the best affordable dining and drinking spots in Brno.

With its bright minimalist Scandinavian-style interiors and attentive service, Skøg Urban Hub is a perfect place to sip on gourmet coffees (the coffee beans come from the local Rusty Nail Coffee Roasters) or enjoy one of its excellent cocktails. 3. Ca Phe Co

Vietnamese people invited by the Czechoslovak government chose the Czech Republic as their home after the fall of communism. As the third largest minority in the country, Vietnamese people offer high-quality, authentic Vietnamese cuisine in Brno. There are many good Vietnamese restaurants in Brno; my favorite is Cà phê, a stylish cafe and bistro. Here you can find authentic Vietnamese classics like Pho Bo (169 CZK) and Bun Bo Nam Bo (155 CZK). They also serve Vietnamese drip coffee with sweetened condensed milk or coconut milk.

9. Super Panda Circus

It may be the best concept bar in the Czech Republic

At an unknown address in Brno (can you give a hint to understand where it is, you handle the rest), guests step into a world filled with colorful characters, circus, games, and interesting cocktails tailored to your personal taste profile by pulling back a curtain.

Zardan

Note: The team behind Super Panda has opened a summer pop-up bar called Zardan in the garden of Spillberk Castle; continuing the colorful circus atmosphere by serving great cocktails.

10. Na Stojáka

In terms of atmosphere, especially if the weather is nice, the wonderful Výčep Na stojáka, meaning "standing drink house," is great. The idea of standing bars dates back to the 1920s and 1930s; people would stop by during the day to have a beer or two and chat with friends or strangers.

The bar offers beers from small local breweries like Stojácké Poupě. This is a bottom-fermented 12-degree beer made with three types of hops, produced by a small producer in Ostravice, Moravia, called Beskydský pivovárek.

They also serve ‘Chlebicky,’ Czech-style open sandwiches made with delicious ingredients at quite reasonable prices.

11. The Non-Existent Bar

The sibling bar of Super Panda Circus, not as bizarre but hipster, with attentive bartenders, delicious experimental cocktails, and stylish, retro interiors, is a popular draw for locals. Sit in a corner of the bar below and witness the mixology magic before you.

12. Cafe Podnebi

Located in a hidden corner of the city park, Cafe Podnebi is a great place to work, journal, read a book, or enjoy a glass of wine with friends in a magical garden setting. A hidden gem away from the hustle and bustle of Brno.

You can choose from various Illy coffee varieties, quality Ronnefeldt teas, or real Belgian chocolate at very affordable prices. Local beers and Czech cola Kofola are also available.

5, Údolní 222, 602 00 Brno-střed, Czech Republic

Tomas and Jan!

13. Element Bar & Restaurant

Element is a project by Jan Liška and Tomáš Reger, who met while working in Dubai. The bar reflects their experiences and education abroad but offers a great experience with a strong emphasis on local ingredients. The food is excellent, and so is the service; try the delicious Arancini or Donburi Japanese rice bowls, or vegetarian gyoza. In line with the city's creative bar scene, the cocktails here are fantastic and quite unique. A must-visit place in Brno.

Frequently Asked Questions: What to Eat in Brno?

Is Brno good for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes, surprisingly. Many places on this list, such as SKØG Urban Hub, Soul Bistro, and Cafe Pilat, offer really good vegetarian and vegan menus. Cafe Pilat’s unlimited lunch buffet offers particularly good value for those on a plant-based diet.

What local drink should I try in Brno?

Two things. First, beer: Brno has a great craft beer scene, and Na Stojaka focuses on small local breweries that you won't find elsewhere. However, since Brno is located in the heart of Moravia, the main wine-growing region of the Czech Republic, don't forget to try the local wines. They are excellent and quite affordable.

Is the food scene in Brno international or mostly Czech?

Both, which makes it interesting. The Czech Republic has a significant Vietnamese community, which has led to the emergence of excellent Vietnamese restaurants in Brno. Ca Phe Co is the standout among them. You can also find great Greek food, Mediterranean cuisine, Japanese influences, and authentic Czech classics.

What is a good budget-friendly lunch option in Brno?

Many places offer excellent value lunch menus. Meals at 4Pokoje start at 150 CZK. Lokal U Caipla offers affordable homemade Czech dishes. Ca Phe Co’s Banh Mi is 99 CZK. Cafe Pilat has an unlimited lunch buffet available.

What is Super Panda Circus and how can I find it?

Probably the best concept bar in the Czech Republic, and finding it is part of the experience. The address is intentionally kept secret. What I can tell you is that once you find the entrance, you step behind a curtain into a world filled with circus characters, games, and cocktails tailored to your personal taste profile. You can ask a local or friends from abroad.

What is Chlebicky?

A Czech-style open-faced sandwich with various toppings. Na Stojaka offers excellent ones at quite affordable prices and is a great snack with craft beers.

Is there a guided option to explore Brno's bar scene?

Yes. Ivo's Brno Bar Tour offers a great experience through Holiday Moments. Thanks to Ivo's personal relationships with bartenders and owners, you go beyond the access and conversations that a solo visit provides. If you want to get a proper introduction to the city's drinking culture, it's worth making a reservation.

When is the best time to experience Brno's bar and cafe scene?

Summer is when the city really comes alive. Warm evenings see everyone out and about, and the atmosphere is extraordinary. However, Brno's indoor bar scene, especially places like Super Panda Circus and the Non-Existent Bar, is worth visiting year-round.
